Imam Nawawi’s collection of 42 hadith (often referred to as the 40 Hadith of Imam Nawawi) is one of the most widely studied and respected works in the Islamic tradition. This timeless compilation brings together some of the most important and foundational Prophetic traditions, each one considered by scholars to represent a great principle of Islam. Many of these traditions are described by classical Islamic scholars as being among the “axes” of Islam, forming the core of Islamic faith and practice.
The commentary provided by the renowned hadith master Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Daqiq al-‘Id (d. 1302) is both simple and deeply insightful. His explanations illuminate the meanings of the Prophetic sayings while making them accessible to both students and scholars of Islam.
This edition has been translated by Mokrane Guezzou, a well-known translator of over ten significant Islamic works, including al-Wahidi’s Qur’an commentary Asbab al-Nuzul. His translations are widely praised for their accuracy, clarity, and readability.
