About the Author & Translator – Dr. Mustafa Khattab

Dr. Mustafa Khattab is a renowned Canadian-Egyptian Quran scholar and expert in Quranic interpretation. He was part of the first team to translate the Ramadan night prayers (Tarawih) live from the Sacred Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina (2002–2005).

Having memorized the entire Quran in his youth, Dr. Khattab earned a professional ijazah in the Hafs recitation, tracing back to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. (Honours) in Islamic Studies in English from Al-Azhar University, one of the world’s leading centers of Islamic learning.

Dr. Khattab has taught Islam and Arabic at Clemson University, served as a Lecturer at Al-Azhar University for over a decade, and was a Muslim Chaplain at Brock University and the University of Toronto Mississauga. A Fulbright Interfaith Scholar and member of the Canadian Council of Imams, he has served as an Imam in both the U.S. and Canada since 2007.
