Allāh, the Most High, gives glad tidings to the purified soul in the Noble Qurʾān:
“O soul at rest and at peace, return to your Lord, well-pleasing and well-pleased. Enter among My servants. Enter My Paradise.”
— Al-Fajr (89:27–30)
These powerful verses highlight the ultimate success in Islām: attaining a tranquil soul (al-nafs al-muṭmaʾinnah) that is pleased with Allāh and earns His pleasure in return.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The greatest jihād is the struggle against your lower self and desires for the sake of Allāh.”
— Musnad al-Daylami #127 (authenticated by al-Albānī)
Self-purification in Islām (tazkiyah al-nafs) is among the most important obligations upon every Muslim. Spiritual development, disciplining the soul, and striving against one’s desires are lifelong responsibilities. Every believer faces daily struggles — from minor temptations to major sins that can nullify or corrupt good deeds.
Islamic teachings emphasise that true success lies not only in outward actions, but in the purification of the heart and sincerity of intention.
The human soul naturally inclines toward:

In this beneficial work, the author addresses the reality of the nafs in light of the Qurʾān and authentic Sunnah. He warns the reader about the dangers of unchecked desires and calls for sincere self-rectification.
Through clear evidences and practical reminders, the book:
The message is urgent and timeless: discipline the soul before it leads you astray.
In today’s world — filled with distractions, materialism, and constant temptations — the struggle against the lower self is more intense than ever. Social pressures, digital exposure, and the pursuit of status amplify the dangers of ego and desire.
This text serves as a powerful reminder that true honour lies not in worldly gain, but in purification of the heart and obedience to Allāh.
Every soul is in need of tazkiyah. Every believer must strive for inner reform. Through sincere effort, repentance, and adherence to the Qurʾān and Sunnah, one can attain a soul that is tranquil, obedient, and ultimately welcomed into Paradise.
May Allāh make us among those who return to Him well-pleased and well-pleasing.
